Should I send my child to school?
A student must meet the following conditions to attend school:
- Fever-free without fever-relieving medication for 24 hours.
- Must have no episodes of vomiting or diarrhea for 24 hours.
- If placed on antibiotics/antiviral for infection, they must be on them for 24 hours before returning to school.
- If your child has a rash of unknown origin, a note from the healthcare provider must be provided before returning to school
Please contact the school office (office@sjb-school.org, 651-437-2644) to report your student’s absence each day your student is ill. Report the symptoms and any communicable condition, such as chicken pox, strep throat, cough/fever, or pink eye.
Please contact the school office if your child has any injury or illness that requires modifications in his/her school day.
Immunizations
St. John’s School follows the requirements of the Minnesota School Immunization Law (Minnesota Statutes Section 123.70). All immunization dates are to be submitted to the school prior to a student’s admittance to school. The parent/guardian is responsible for providing this information is writing to the health office and to update it each year immunizations are administered to the student.
Medications
It is our general policy that mediation should be administered by the parents/guardian at home. However, there are times when medication needs to be administered at school.
Prescription medications require an order from a health care provider with the name of the medication, dose, route, time to be given, how often, and the name of the student. The order must be signed by the health care provider and parent. The medication must have a prescription label that matches the order exactly.
Non-prescription medication (over-the-counter medication) must be presented in the original container and with a form filled completed and signed by the parent//guardian. All medication will be kept in a locked drawer in the school office, not with the student. The school will not supply any medication for the student.
